Duties & Responsibilities
The Head of Boarding is responsible fproviding promoting a safe, caring, happy, homely,ganized environment fboarding students while living on campus.
•Dynamic, forward-thinking outward-looking leadership of the boarding community.
•Strategic leadership development of boarding which supports the philosophy, aims policies of the School, promotes a high level of achievement in all areas of boarding life.
•Ensure that parents guardians are well informed about the School’s boarding policies all aspects of the care welfare of boarding pupils.
Management responsibilities:
•Oversee the work of the Boarding team meet with them regularly to discuss boarding matters ensure consistency between Houses, particularly in relation to Boarding Regulations welfare issues.
•Responsible fmanaging the boarding staff.
•Deploy, train develop all boarding staff to make the most effective use of their skills, expertise experience to ensure that all boarding staff have a clear understanding of their roles, duties responsibilities.
•Oversee the selection training of Boarding Prefects to ensure consistency across the boarding houses.
•Establish, publicize maintain a routine fthe boarding house.
•Pastoral Administrative responsibilities:
•Ensure the School’s compliance to liaise with the SLT in preparation of any boarding inspections.
•Ensuring a visible active presence in the boarding community houses inder to develop a relationship with all boarders.
•Keep the Head of Boarding other appropriate staff, informed of pastoral issues relating to any pupil in the boarding community manage these in conjunction with the Head of Secondary School.
•Inform consult with the Head of Secondary School /Principal of serious pupil breaches of discipline good conduct maintain a record of punishments awarded.
•Ensure that medical matters are dealt with appropriately in line DHGT Medical Protocol Practices, liaising with the Medical Centre, the Sports Department the pupils’ parents as appropriate.
•Ensure that all appropriate registration/attendance/absence records are kept fall boarders.
General:
•In conjunction with the boarding team, arrange,ganize participate in the program of activities, trips, social events which play a key role in ensuring a unique boarding experience.
•Responsible fthe annual review of the Boarding Handbook.
•Carry out fire practices in boarding time in accordance with the School’s policies maintain a record of fire practices.
•Liaise with the Directof Business Administration in maintaining adding to the fabric of the houses in matters relating to the Maintenance Staff.
•Liaise with the maintenance teams in all matters relating to the maintenance of the houses.
•Ensure that boarders’ views are secured on a regular basis through questionnaires Boarding Prefect Meetings.
•Represent the interest needs of the boarding community to the SLT the Trustees play an advisory role in the long-term development of boarding.
•Assist with the appointment of all boarding staff.
