Description
UL Solutions is seeking a SeniWind Turbine Engineer to provide technical excellence fwind turbine technology across APAC Global projects. This role serves as a subject-matter expert fOEM turbine platforms, supports due diligence asset advisory services, interfaces directly with clients turbine OEMs. The position requires deep experience in wind turbine design operations, with the ability to lead complex technical evaluations.
Responsibilities
-Serve as a technical expert fwind turbine technology across UL’s Wind Asset Advisory Due Diligence teams.
-Perform OEM turbine technology evaluations (primarily Chinese turbine OEMs, but also all majglobal OEMs), including drafting maintaining turbine technology reports used globally. Track issues resolutions associated with turbine models as they emerge, develop, are resolved.
-Provide technical leadership on independent engineering (IE) due diligence fgreenfield, repower, operating projects.
-Support selective field activities, including visits to the turbine/main component factories, operating under-construction wind farms turbine inspections.
-Assess the condition of wind farms through desktop review of operating records site visits.
-Lead execute root‑cause investigations turbine failures, including gearboxes, collapses, main bearings, etc., support owners with warranty claims.
-Provide technical support advice fturbine issues encountered during construction commissioning - e.g., handling damage/repair, start-up failures, implementation of retrofits during construction, etc.
-Support the due diligence team reviewing turbine construction job books completion records.
-Interface directly with clients, lenders, tax equity stakeholders, particularly on technically contentious issues.
Qualifications
Primary Qualifications:
-University Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Technology from an accredited program.
-10+ years of experience in wind turbine engineering, including turbine design, loads, performance, operations.
-Deep technical knowledge of majOEM platforms
-Expertise in wind turbine site suitability loads modelling
-Fluency in English local language
Secondary Qualifications:
-Ability willingness to perform turbine climbs.
-Knowledge of Power Performance Verifications
-Knowledge of wind farm construction and/operations.
-Technical knowledge of other western OEMs, including Vestas, GE, Nordex, SGRE, etc
