Were seeking an experienced Service Mesh Engineer to design, implement, build our service mesh infrastructure. In this role, youll be the technical engineer on service mesh technologies, ensuring reliable, secure, observable communication between microservices across our distributed systems. Youll work at the intersection of networking, security, application delivery to resilient architectures that scale with our business needs.
What Youll Do
- Design Architect: robust service mesh architectures that enable secure, reliable communication between microservices while optimizing fperformance scalability
- Implement Configure: Deploy, configure, maintain service mesh solutions (such as Istio, Linkerd, Consul) in production environments
- Enhance Observability: Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, tracing solutions to provide visibility service-to-service communication
- Secure Communications: Design enforce zero-trust security policies, mTLS encryption, access controls within the service mesh
- Automate Operations: Develop automation fservice mesh deployment, configuration, lifecycle management using GitOps principles
- Troubleshoot Optimize: Diagnose resolve complex issues related to service mesh performance, reliability, security
- Knowledge Sharing: Educate development teams on service mesh best practices provide guidance on effective implementation
- Stay Current: Research emerging technologies methodologies in the service mesh ecosystem to continuously improve our infrastructure
What Were Looking F
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd, Consul Connect, similar)
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of Kubernetes, containerchestration, microservices architecture
- Networking Knowledge: Strong grasp of networking concepts including TCP/IP, HTTP/gRPC protocols, load balancing, DNS
- Security Focus: Experience implementing zero-trust security models, mTLS, traffic encryption in distributed systems
- Observability Skills: Proficiency with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana), distributed tracing (Jaeger, Zipkin), logging systems
- Infrastructure as Code: Experience with infrastructure automation using Terraform, Helm, similar tools
- Programming Ability: Proficiency in at least one programming language (Go, Python, Java) scripting fautomation
- Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical thinking troubleshooting skills fcomplex distributed systems
- Communication: Excellent verbal written communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multiple service mesh implementations migration between platforms
- Contributions to open-source projects in the cloud-native ecosystem
- Experience with multi-cluster multi-region service mesh
- Knowledge of service mesh federation multi-mesh architectures deployments
- Familiarity with WebAssembly (WASM) extensions fservice mesh customization
- Experience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP) their networking services
- Relevant certifications (CKA, CKAD, Istio certifications, etc.)
