A small start up hospital in Steamboat Springs, Colorado needs a basic system to provide doctors the ability to list their patients so they can most effectively visit them during his/her stay in at the facility. The previous company, White Owl Software, was to develop a system for them has failed and it is up to E5 to design and build an alternate application prior to their scheduled opening which is just two weeks. Several outlying hospitals have scheduled patient transfers to this new facility on opening day so the deadline cannot be delayed. The situation is dire and the hospital is counting on E5 to have a functional application running on time and on budget. The name of the hospital is Brannon Memorial Hospital.
The town is very proud of their new hospital, it has two, two story wings, each wing has 25 rooms of various sizes and usages. There is one ICU in the west wing. The south wing contains 4 operating rooms and two birthing rooms (the west wing also contains the maternity ward). Administrative offices are located on the 1st floor of the west wing (10 rooms in all). There are offices for 3 resident doctors; all other doctors have their own offices in other locations. There will be 15 nurses and 10 administrative staff with various titles
The hospital has limited resources so E5 has a fixed budget. With this fixed amount of money E5 can only afford a team of 6 people and one consultant (we have purchased 10 hours of consultant time so use this time wisely) Upon completion of the project a CMMi audit will be performed to ensure that the project was completed at CMM3. If the audit is passed E5 will receive a bonus that is equal to 50% of the fixed budget. Without this bonus E5 will loose money so emphases must be placed upon adherence to E5’s methodologies and CMM compliance. The system must be thoroughly tested.
If E5 does a good job of this we will be awarded several more projects to round out the full application. For now they only need the above functionality.
High Level Requirements:
