CRT is developing Film Bulk Acoustic Resonator (FBAR) filters that provide the
sharp out-of-band rejection and low insertion loss that cell-phone makers desire,
particularly in the bands above 2GHz. CRT’s filters use unique, proprietary, and IP
protected piezo films that are targeting current as well as emerging 5G markets.
Spending on RF filters in handsets will grow from about $5.2 billion in 2016 to
$16.3 billion in 2022, according to Yole development - a market research
company. It is estimated BAW technology held about a 40% revenue share in
2016, reflecting the higher prices and margins for these filters. Broadcom’s FBAR
holds about 80% of
