Environmental Catalysts & Technologies (ECT) is one of JM’s divisions, there are 10 manufacturing plants and 7 technology centers across 5 countries. ECT has the highest annual autocatalyst output in the world, broadest automotive customer base from two-stroke motorcycles to heavy duty diesel trucks, produced of over one third of all auto catalysts ever used.

Johnson Matthey (Shanghai) Chemicals Ltd is one of ECT’s manufacturing plant. It started production in June, 2001. With land 24,000m2, total investment was US$ 15M It got QS9000 and VDA6.1 certifications in June 2002, and got TS16949 certification in May 2004. Currently, products made by JM Shanghai cover the exhaust gases aftertreatment catalyst for car, light duty gasoline and diesel, as well as motorcyle applications.
