Grau Elektronik was founded in 2001. Main focus of our business activities is the development and manufacturing of dc/dc, ac/dc converters and battery chargers for railway and rolling stock applica-tions. Another main focus is the development of high sophisticated power supplies for supplying laser diode apparatus machines in the power range 0.5kW … 15kW.

The first converter families were developed for propulsion and break control systems in the pow-er range 60W to 150W. All developments, PCB designs, circuit validations and unit tests are done in-house in Karlsbad. Grau Elektronik designed, as one of the first companies around the world, a bidirectional 2kW dc/dc converter for electronic automotive power drive applications. We work for companies like ABB, AEGTranz, ALSTOM, BOMBARDIER, BOSCH, KNORR BRAKE Systems, SELECTRON, SIEMENS, Skoda, THALES, VOSSLOH and many other companies. Meantime we have 33 employees in engineering, manufacturing and logistic staff employed.

For the last 14 years Grau Elektronik assembled more than 120’000 converters with unique technical features. The converter design and manufacturing process is accompanied under consideration of ISO 9001:2008. Beside our own standard program, Grau Elektronik also offers customized designs and developments of power supply systems. We guarantee after sales service and maintenance sup-port during whole system life cycle.

DC/DC converters 10W to 1kW, emergency starter modules up to 5’075VDC input voltage with
51jobPOut= 75W – 400W, controlled rectifiers, e.g. for starting power transformers with output power from
11kW up to 55kW, multiple output converters with huge input voltage range 20 : 1 (19VDC – 385VDC) and several kind of battery chargers 250W – 11kW are parts of our program.

Latest developments are a cPCI 120W converter for DC/DC railway applications with an efficiency η ≥ 91%, that is + 7% more than competitors solutions. Another project is a development of a new and compact 100W dual output converter with variable output configurations.
